Support and Accountability for Academic Success© (SAAS©) is a transformational leadership model for division and school leaders based on the 3 C’s of effective leadership practices: Culture, Communication, and Commitment.

Culture

Strengthen the culture by analyzing current systems, removing the barriers, and establishing high expectations for all stakeholders.

Communication

Develop and communicate capacity-building systems and processes that are explicitly and clearly defined for all stakeholders.

Commitment

Commit to building the capacity of instructional leaders by providing guidance, support, and coaching feedback.

Widad Abed

Widad Abed is skilled in school turnaround strategies that improve student achievement outcomes in a variety of settings. Widad has served as a teacher, principal and a school quality coordinator in the Virginia Department of Education’s Office of School Quality (OSQ). As a former principal, she turned around a failing school by building strong systems and processes that supported student achievement. As an OSQ coordinator, Widad assisted local educational agencies with developing, implementing, and monitoring systems and processes focused on alignment of the written, taught, and tested curriculum. Moreover, she developed and conducted professional development training sessions to school divisions across Virginia on Instructional Leadership with a focus on curriculum alignment and coaching feedback. Additionally, Widad has worked with division leaders on transformational leadership practices to improve student outcomes.

Widad Abed’s areas of expertise include developing division systems, academic reviews, instructional leadership, principal coaching, data analysis, asset mapping, and program evaluation.
